Common Questions from Pella Door Owners About Installing a Smart Door Lock

Q: Is my Pella door compatible with smart door locks? Are there any specific models recommended for Pella doors?

A: Technically, yes, there are specific smart door lock models recommended for Pella doors. However, before we can determine the best option, we need to identify the exact Pella model series you have. This is why we require a size inquiry form submission. Our Tech Team will use this information to confirm and verify the compatibility of your existing Pella door with our smart door locks.

Q: Do I need to modify my Pella door to install a smart lock? Will installing a smart door lock require drilling or other alterations?

A: In many cases with our previous customers who have existing Pella door models, we can usually proceed with little to no modification requirements. However, some smart door locks are more sophisticated than others, which is why our standard size email recommendations include a note about the possibility of modifications such as drilling new holes and other minor alterations during installation.

Q: How do I install a smart door lock on my Pella door? Can I install it myself, or should I hire a professional? Are there specific tools required for installation?

A: Since installing a smart lock on an existing Pella door can be quite challenging, we strongly recommend working with a professional locksmith. This helps avoid potential damage to the door, especially since Pella doors often have a multipoint locking system that requires more technical expertise, which only professionals possess.

Q: How do smart door locks integrate with my existing door hardware? Will the smart lock work with my current deadbolt and handle set? Do I need to replace the entire lockset or just the deadbolt?

A: Pella doors come in various models, including both multipoint and single deadbolt locks. Each model series requires different integration and modification during installation. Therefore, it is imperative that customers interested in installing a smart door lock submit the size inquiry form. This allows for a better evaluation of their existing Pella doors and ensures compatibility and a smooth installation process.

Q: What is the cost of installing a smart lock on a Pella door? How much do smart locks typically cost? Are there additional costs for professional installation?

A: When it comes to smart door locks installation, the price varies depending on the professional locksmith you work with. Professional fees are not disclosed by The Connected Shop and are solely at the discretion of the locksmith. On the other hand, the price of smart door locks ranges from $300 to $600, depending on the additional accessories included, such as the WiFi gateway. You can check the price of each product here.

Q: How does a smart lock affect my home’s aesthetics? Are there different styles and finishes to match my Pella door? Will the smart lock blend in with my current door hardware?

A: Our smart door locks offer various design options that can complement your existing Pella door. However, as mentioned earlier, the results of the size inquiry form will influence the available design options for your smart door lock. Fortunately, our smart door locks are always available in black and silver finishes, which are versatile and blend well with most aesthetics.

Great article. I have a Pella door and have looked everywhere for a smart lock that will work on one of their doors and can’t find one. I even asked Pella and they had no recommendation. Can you provide a list of smart locks that would work?
Thanks
Joe
